- Displays all pages in a single, easily changed template
- The template is a single .html file, created with any editor, with a few added PHP tags
- Content on pages can be edited from any web browser - no special software required
- Sections of pages can be 'programmed' with scheduled start and end display date/time
- Page addresses are search-engine friendly URLs
- E-mail addresses protected from the spammer's e-mail harvesting robots
- Sections can be assigned an event time/date for inclusion on automatically-generated calendar
Additional Modules
Contentor avoids the overhead of add-on modules by having an executable template (.php script) where additional 'modules' can be integrated. The target audience for this system - small, non-profit organizations - generally do not request the type of add-on modules typically found in other content management sytems. So, the design decision was made very early to keep the greatest flexibility by not making the system truely modular, but instead develop additional features in the form of external, yet compatible scripts
Here is a list of 'modules' developed so far:
- Random Photobar - can pull images from a Gallery album, but maintains a separate caption system. Gallery requires a slight modification in the way it makes its thumbnails.
- Random Quote - pulls random phrases/sentences from a simple database and displays
- OutLook Calendar Import - allows a calendar exported from MS OutLook to be imported into the Contentor database/calendar. Removes previously imported items, but does not disturb events entered directly.
