Page Title

This is the page name that will show up on the browser title bar (and search engines and the site map)

Sub Menu Order

If this is a sub menu item, this number determines where the sub menu entry will be shown, i.e.:

Menu3

If the sub menu order is set to -1, the item will not appear on the menu or the site map.
Numbers do not need to be sequential and pages with the same order number will be shown in the order retrieved from the database.

Private

Prevents this section of information from being displayed unless the visitor is logged in. This allows the creation of "members only" sections.

Settings

Utility to change settings such as the main menu entries, editor/member list information and page settings, such as section headers, etc.

Database manager

Opens the database manager, where individual records can be edited or deleted. Also allows database backup and other utility functions.

File manager

Accesses the file manager to create folders or upload files.

Members List Manager

Brings up the member list manager to change edit permissions and passwords.

Pops open a new window to the help screens

Help

This is a "screen capture" of an edit page. Each control area or link on the page has a blue popup box like this one. Click on each area to popup the additional information.

Section Header

An optional heading to place at the beginning if the section. For articles that do not require a heading for each section, just leave this blank. For events that do not have a header, the first 20 characters of the section text is used on the calendar. Sections with the same section number will be shown in alphabetical order of the section headers.

An ordered list can be nested inside a bulleted list, but not the reverse.

Inserting images and other files

If the Insert image routine is used with files other than images, the system will use the 'embed' tag instead of the 'img' tag. Possible uses include sound, music, Adobe .pdf files, etc.

The type of files that can be embedded is determined by the browser and server configurations.

Delete section

If this box is checked, this section will be deleted from the site on the next 'Save...' operation. This box is automatically checked for expired sections. Uncheck the box to retain the section

Section order

Sets the display order of the sections. To rearrange the sections on the page, just edit the numbers. The main section and sidebar sections are separate and independent. The section numbers do not need to be contiguous, and sections with the same number will be displayed in the Section Header order.

Link URL

Prompts for the address of a remote site and makes highlighted text into a link to that site using BB Code. Link opens into a new browser window.

Link Page

Prompts for the address of local page or a remote site and makes highlighted text into a link to that site using BB Code. Link opens into the same browser window.

Insert E-mail link

Inserts the BB Code that generates an e-mail link out of the highlighted text, if any. Will prompt for text, if needed and for an e-mail address.

Image Spacing

To specify the number of pixels of spacing on the left and right sides of the image

Center

Used to insert the BB Code [c]center[/c] tags to center the selected text or images

Align Right

Inserts the BB Code to align text or images to the right side of the screen.

Justify

Inserts the BB Code to create text that is double-justified, aligned on both edges.

Insert Horizonal Line

Inserts the BB Code tot generates a horizonal line

Insert Image

Inserts the BB Code to include an image within this section, using the settings from the Select Image section at the bottom of the screen.

Bold Text

Makes the highlighted text appear bold on the finished page using BB Code. If no text is marked, you will be prompted to enter text to be 'bolded'.

Italic Text

Makes the highlighted code appear on the finished page in italic font using BB Code. If no text is marked, you will be prompted to enter text to be 'italicized'.

Bulleted List

Inserts BB Code around your selected lines to produce a bulleted list.

Ordered List

This icon inserts the BB Code to create a numbered numbered in the section text box. If any lines are highlighted, each line becomes a list entry.
The type of list produced can be changed by editing the type indicator letter after the '=' in the opening tag as follows:

[list=A] - uppercase letters A.B.C...
[list=i] - lowercase Roman i. ii. iii. iv...

Section text

The large text input boxes hold the content for the each section of the page. This box can hold text, html code, or BB Code (which can be inserted with the buttons above).

If you are using Internet Explorer, highlight text in this box before clicking the BB Code buttons abovet. Other browsers will append any inserted BB Code at the end of the existing section text.

The height and width of the text entry boxes can be set from the settings screen, using the setup:

icon found on the top right of the edit mode screen.

Start date for section display

This is the date to start displaying this section on the page. Sections can be entered ahead of time and will automatically start showing on the page on this date. The value can be picked from a pop-up calendar via the

calendar icon.

Event date

Each section can have an event date associated with it. The calendar will automatically include sections with an event date. The value can be picked from a pop-up calendar via the

calendar icon.

Expire display of section

This entry determines the latest date that this section will be displayed. The value can be picked from a pop-up calendar via the

calendar icon. The pop-up calendar has a

'never expire' icon for fast entry of '9999-12-31'.

Save and return to page

This saves all changes and exits the editing mode and returns to the normal viewing mode of the page under edit. All changes take place immediately, including the deletion of sections with the 'delete' box checked. You are not logged-out, so you may return to editing mode by clicking on the edit icon

Save and continue edit

This will save all of the changes specified in all of the sections on the current screen and returns to the edit screen with an additional empty section for further additions. Any sections with the 'delete' box checked will be deleted and all changes will be visible online immediately.

Image File name

Allows entry of a file name for inclusion in a page section using that section's insert image icon . This can be a file on the host server (generally starting with '/') or a file on another server (generally starting with 'http://').

Image Select

This button pops-up a new window to allow an image to be selected for inclusion in a section of the page. The new window also allows uploading of image files to the web server. Other types of files can also be uploaded and selected.

Image Description

This allows a text description to be associated with the image as an 'alt-tag'. The text tag attribute serves as an alternative representation for people with a vision disability using screen-reader software. This text is also important for searching or in the case of the image file becoming unavailable.

Image Preview

Once an image is selected and the image filename is entered into the Image File input box, this link will pop up a window and display the image. Simply close the new window to return to editing.

Image Align

Determines if the image is placed on the left side of the section,
or if the image is aligned on the right side of the section space

Image Border

To specify the width of the border placed around the image. This value is used when the image tag is written with the

button

Image Width

This entry allows the image width to be specified before the image tag is inserted into the section text box with the

button. Images load and display faster if the size is specified. For files that are selected with the Select Image button, this value will be filled-in automatically

Image Height

Specifies the image height before the image tag is inserted into the section text box with the

button. Images load and display faster if the size is specified. For files that are selected with the Select Image button, this value will be filled-in automatically.
